The Emerging Leader Award is designed to recognise women aged 30 or younger
(as at 31 December in the year of the Award) who are inspiring other women in football and who are showing strong leadership capabilities.

2018 WINNER - Amy Dwyer

Amy Dwyer was nominated as a Development Officer in the ACT where she worked alongside local clubs and schools to create opportunities for young people to get involved in AFL. During her time in this role, the region has saw 10% participation growth, as well as an established indigenous Auskick program.

Amy is also a player for the Queanbeyan Tigers; has won multiple best and fairest awards; and the Renee Ioppi Award for the player who demonstrates strong leadership and sportsmanship.  In 2018, Amy was also been selected in the NSW/ACT RAMS U18 Team.

Aside from working and playing in football, Amy has coordinated multiple programs introducing young people to umpiring.
